VERY POLITICAL BOOK & PRINT CLUB

Do you have something you want to talk about that is perfectly reasonable? Do you want to inspire a print for your fellow comrades? This Book Club is where that can happen. Get the book, Everybody shares and prints on our old timely printing presses. This month’s book is Democracy Matters by Cornel West, buy the book. Learn what West has to say, he’s running for president.

This Bookclub is led by the ‘Fresh off the Press’ Crew; Aaron, Rafael, Rick, and Kevin none of whom will fight you on an ideological issue. Don’t forget this is for humans only. No tools.

MATTERbeta BOOK CLUB

Welcome to the MATTERBETAs. This Book Club is a vital way to include our community in our bookstore’s curation. Our participants choose an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the scores of books that are sent to us by publishers and authors. Then, as Beta Readers of these titles, we all report back on the books we read. Books are free.

MATTERBETAs meet every 3rd Thursday of each month, 6-7:30pm
Simple evaluation rubric provided.

We hope to catch you MATTERBETA-ing.

Book Club to Remake the World

Hosted by a Rotating Cast of Characters

Our September book, We Will Not Cancel Us, is from author adrienne maree brown. In We Will Not Cancel Us, movement mediator adrienne maree brown reframes the discussion for us, in a way that points to possible paths beyond this impasse. Most critiques of cancel culture come from outside the milieus that produce it, sometimes even from its targets. However, brown explores the question from a Black, queer, and feminist viewpoint that gently asks, how well does this practice serve us? Does it prefigure the sort of world we want to live in? And, if it doesn’t, how do we seek accountability and redress for harm in ways that reflect our values?
Book Club to Remake the World meets every 2nd Wednesday of each month, 6-7:30pm.

We have been incredibly grateful to have had Faatma and Dominique Christina lead this book club for the past months. They are ready to pass the leadership to others, so we’ve decided to continue our deep and important conversations with rotating activists.
