In 2015, determined to quit their job, the founder of Strike Gently, Co. spent the last $500 they had on 100 custom pins of an all-black owl design. If they could find 100 people to buy them, they could recoup my costs and do two new releases. They used a lot of matches at the time so they stuck the pins in empty matchbooks as packaging — and ended up selling them all. My friend Louis suggested we call the company Strike Gently.
